Meeting was called to order at 10:00 AM by Liz Brown.
Approval of Minutes:
Minutes of the April Meeting were approved.
Old Business:
A – Liz to have spreadsheet of CALEA standards.
Because of how much information is involved Liz just circulated the “Table of
Contents” since it would give an adequate overview of the information. In
September, EPSO will be starting the process and Liz will be talking to
Arapahoe county as they have gone through it before. It was discussed that EPSO
will be paying approximately $10,000 to become accredited but smaller agencies
would be closer to $6000 each.
B - Drafted letter to board on 9-1-1 bucks.
At the last Authority board meeting it was decided that gifts would still be given
to communications employees as they had in the past. The letter asks the
Authority if 911 “bucks” can be authorized for an exemplary call (medical,
fire or police) which can be redeemed for 911 merchandise. This will eliminate
the need for gift certificates. The funding for this is already available under the
public education line item of the budget. It was suggested some language in the
letter be changed and then it will be emailed to committee members for final
approval before going before the board.
New Business:
A - Liz to discuss some suggestions on training for critical calls and
handling dispatch environment.
Liz had been researching training that would help personnel deal with traumatic
calls, pre-training for post-incident. One out of state instructor that she had
literature for would charge $15,000 for five days of training. It was discussed that
there were possibly other alternatives like using an in-state instructor, Mr.
Anderson said he would inquire about that at the next CISM meeting. The
possibility of once again incorporating CISM training into the existing Academy
and online training was also discussed. This item was tabled at this time, options
will be evaluated and it will be revisited at the next meeting.
B - Liz to discuss wireless 4 and 6 wire encrypted headsets.
Wireless headsets were discussed. It was mentioned that GN Netcom is
going out of business so eventually all agencies will have to migrate to
Plantronics. By the end of June, CSPD will be the only center exclusively using
Plantronics. Mr. Anderson explained that when agencies request funding for
headsets that those headsets need to be put to use. The CA12 is used with the
Plantronics
headsets and works with phone and radio. It was discussed that depending on
budget requests, agencies will begin to be upgraded to the new headsets.
C - ComCast to provide VOIP in El Paso County
D - Status report on Cricket Communications.
Mr. Anderson reported that he had been contacted by ComCast
regarding VOIP,
at first it will only be the city of Colorado Springs. Also Cricket will begin
testing in Teller County shortly.
E - Training Classes
The current scheduling of classes every other month seems to
working, at the
end of the year it will be evaluated so the schedule for 2008 can be determined.
The next meeting will be held on August 1, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the 9-1-1
office.
