Subject: Tape recording and Archiving

 

            All 9-1-1 telecommunications shall be recorded on approved recording devices as provided by the E9-1-1 Authority Board.  Recordings shall be available to the Authority Board and their designated representatives upon demand.  9-1-1 telecommunications recordings shall be archived on the PSAP site in a secure area for a period of not less than 90 days.  Specific tapes may be designated for longer archiving by the Authority Board, the agency or the Fourth Judicial District Court System.  The PSAP shall preserve held tapes until released by the agency placing the hold on said tape. {Tapes shall be held for the following reasons:  Evidentiary reasons for civil and criminal actions, quality control review, historical reference, and reference for responding agency review.}

 

            Authority Board tapes shall not be edited or otherwise altered.

 

            Authority Board tapes shall be reproduced or played for public transcription only as the local agency policy would dictate and /or through a subpoena processed by a court of law.

 

            The E9-1-1 Authority Board originally purchased a ninety (90) day supply of tapes for the PSAP. When required, a request to replace the original ninety (90) day supply of tapes may be sent to the 9-1-1 System Manager. Agencies keeping more than a ninety (90) day supply are responsible for purchasing additional tapes.
